Today I want to tell you about my trip to Costa Rica that I took about five months ago! My best friend and I spent nine wonderful days in this beautiful country.
Costa Rica has been on my bucket list for a while, but it wasn’t in the top five. When I moved to Miami, though, I was surprised at how cheap and easy it is to fly from here to Costa Rica. From Fort Lauderdale International Airport (everyone prefers to fly out of Fort Lauderdale because Miami airport is so crazy busy) it only took me 3 hours to get to Costa Rica and the ticket was only $130 roundtrip! What a deal! So, my best friend came down from NYC and we took a girl’s trip.
Our friends and family were a little worried about two women traveling alone, but I had done my research and Costa Rica is the safest Central American country. I can certainly vouch for that. While we were there we traveled over the entire country and never once felt afraid. All the locals were kind and helpful. It was really a beautiful experience.
We spent the night in a jungle, slept at the base of a volcano, ziplined through the clouds and had some of the best food I’ve ever eaten. In San Jose, I found some of the best sushi I have ever had. We ate it on our first day, talked about how good it was the whole trip and then came back and ate there again on the last day!!
Here is a beautiful photo I took from the top of the mountain. The clouds are so close you can almost touch them!
And, here is a photo I took of a deserted beach we happened to find. We spent at least an hour here just walking and relaxing. The only sound I could hear was the waves crashing against the shore!
Here is my best travel trip for you! If you go to Costa Rica, you must eat at a soda. These are very small restaurants connected to people’s homes. They are usually named after the woman of the house. Soda Marie. Soda Imelda. It is kinda like eating in someone’s kitchen and the cost is extremely cheap. The quality is also amazing. Other than the sushi I had in the beginning, some chicken and rice I had at a soda was the best meal of the trip.
Pura Vida! Which means pure life! It’s what everyone in Costa Rica says!
